How we met.

Mochi's Version
It was my first semester at CSUF, Fall of 2002. Yikes... that was over 6 years ago. We met in our Voice & Movement class with Evelyn.

I remember the first time I saw him, I thought he was really attractive. We had an exercise to introduce someone we didn't know to the class. He happened to be sitting close to me, so we chose each other.

When I learned that he was half-Japanese half-white, I absolutely knew that I wanted him to at least be my friend. Hapa were my favorite people. (At this time, I thought that "hapa" meant specifically half-Japanese half-white. Now I know it's anyone of mixed descent. Still love 'em. They're the most attractive people to me.)

So that was our beginning. We had two other classes together that semester. I don't remember the classes, but they were with Alex MacKenzie and Larry Peters. I remember being sad that he didn't seem to recognize me, and if he did, he didn't sit with me. He seemed so popular.

As the semester went on, we got to know each other better through Voice & Movement. We were partners for a pillow exercise. We were in the same group for a Jabberwocky project. We were going to do an acting scene together, but he was late one too many times and Evelyn said he couldn’t perform. I didn’t see much of him after that.

The pillow exercise was how he started calling me “Mochi.” The pillow I used was of Nagomimakuri, a San-X character, that a bunch of my friends got me for…. my birthday? We also used Nagomimakuri during the Jabberwocky project. He said it looked like a mochi. When we saw each other on campus about my third semester, he greeted me with that nickname. Turned out he didn’t remember my real name, but remembered that pillow.

After that, we started hanging out more often. Oftentimes we found ourselves skipping classes just so we could have lunch together. And so our friendship grew. =P

Yubo's Version
Ok so I'm finally getting to this after much prodding from my better half which is stupid because I agreed with her that this was a good idea and was excited about it. Either way here goes.

Mochi and I met at Cal State Fullerton in a Voice and Movement class which is a class in the acting department. I guess it would have been my junior year first semester since she is two years younger than me and it was her first semester. We had a class icebreaker where we had to pair up and introduce each other to the class. Its funny but the only thing I remembered from the exercise was that she liked anime. I remember we had at least two more classes together one was with Larry Peters I forget the actual class but I remember mochi cause she cosplayed for Halloween in a Fam costume which was kinda hot.

Darlene's nickname "Mochi" comes from from the fact that as Mochi and I hung out more and more skipping classes just to go to lunch, for about a month and a half I couldn't for the life of me remember her name. That's right "a month and a half" all the while hanging out at least three times a week. When I saw or met up with her she was always either alone or already in conversation with her friends and so they never said her name where I could pick up on it. So in order to hide the fact that I forgot her name I called her Mochi after this pillow that she brought in to an exercise in Voice and Movement that required one. Apparently it supposed to be a salamander but when I first saw it, heck even now, it reminded me of a giant mochi with stumpy arms and legs and an Ahn leaf (sweet bean paste shaped like a leaf, a common mochi garnishment) on top. It was so ridiculously cute that it stuck with me. Thus the nick name Mochi.

So there it is finally My short version of how we met. :p

Hello!

First off -- Welcome to our blog! ^_^

We thought it would be fun to write about our journey as a couple: when we met, how we started dating, the struggles we've overcome, the lengthy engagement process, wedding planning, and then keeping up with life after marriage. So these first couple of posts will be about how we got to where we are now, touching on some of the more significant happenings in our life together so far. After that's out of the way we'll follow our progress with wedding planning, and see how well we can keep this up after we get married.

That whole paragraph is awfully redundant, but that does make it very clear what this blog will be about. This will also be for our own reference to limit tangents in the future. =P

Anyway, hope you enjoy. You may find yourself reading a lot more than you really cared to know about us.
